Volunteers Needed

Teen and adult volunteers are needed at the library. Those interested in volunteering must be 14 years of age or older. Minors (ages 14 – 17) must fill out the paperwork at the Reference Desk with a parent or guardian, and volunteer hours for minors may count toward community service hours. Examples of volunteer tasks including shelving, stamping cards, preparing new patron registration packets, other clerical duties and assisting with children’s and teen program. Please call the Library at 827-6950 and ask for Anne regarding teen volunteers or Teri regarding adult volunteers.

Volunteer Luncheon and John Morgan Scholarship Award

The Friends of the Library hosted their annual Volunteer Luncheon on Thursday, May 20, to thank everyone who generously gave their time in service to the library. In 2010 year to date, over 4,000 hours have been logged by volunteers, with the average of 75 individual volunteers per month. With library staffing reduced and increased use of the library by new patrons, these wonderful people keep books shelved, informational packets ready, clerical work up-to-date, programs running successfully, etc.

Our very successful Seymour’s Bookstore, and its book sales, are staffed entirely by dedicated, hard-working volunteers. Thanks to all of you!

The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library has a unique connection to volunteers: they were the very founders of the library. We have come a long way since our first library, a small, white trailer trailer  run by our first dedicated volunteers. The building of our current library was, and continues to be, a community effort.

We even have a special VolunTeen program for people ages 13 to 18, and time worked can be applied to school or church community service requirements.  In addition to regular volunteer duties, VolunTeens are welcome to help with math tutoring and reading to children. They may also join the Teen Advisory Board and have a say in their library materials and event programming.

If you would like to volunteer, please pick up an application at our Reference Desk.  We would love to have you as part of our library team!  For more information on volunteer opportunities, please call Teri Van De Water, Volunteer Coordinator, at 827-6950.  See you at the library!
