Have you ever wondered how the Library is able to bring
such programs as Book Talk Café and the Florida Library Youth Program to our
patrons? It is thanks to the enduring support of our Friends of the Library
group. Their financial contributions and thousands of volunteer hours per year
(6,637 hours in 2007 alone!) make our library branch a relevant and vital
community center.
Thank you for your interest in our library branch and our
Friends of the Library group. I hope you will make it a point to regularly visit
this web site to find out what’s happening at our library and what the Friends
are up to!

RAPID REVIEW
by Carolee Bertisch
Following
are two new books on my bookshelves that sound like winners:
On
Beauty - By
Zadie Smith, the author of the award-winning White Teeth,
has been declared one of the 25 Best Books of the Year by the New York
Public Library, and was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize. It is
a satire of university life with poetry and art at its core.
A
new book by Anna Quinlen is always an event. Rise and Shine
is the story of two New York sisters. Meghan is a famous broadcaster
and Bridget a social worker, who has always followed a few steps behind
her famous sister. Together, they confront adversity.
