© teens!
Teens, this is
your department with books, music, movies, and free programming just for
you! Come hang out in the Young Adult section and check our calendar regularly
to see what fun activities you can be a part of.
Also, if you think of materials that you want to see in your department,
or programs that you think would be cool, tell your Young Adult Librarian; she
wants to know about it! You can even be part of the Teen Advisory Board and plan
activities yourself. For more
details on Young Adult events, call Michelle Kiley at 827-6950
VOLUNTEEN!
Young adults ages 14 and over are invited to consider giving of their time and talents to making our library the best that it can be: VOLUNTEER! If you have an hour or more each week or time to devote on an infrequent basis at the library, you are invited to become a Volunteen.
VolunTeens assist with a variety of library functions as well as help out in our Children's and Young Adult sections. VolunTeens can use their volunteer experience as work experience on job applications, and hours served will count as service hours to meet the requirements of high school graduation, clubs, honors programs, and scholarships. Hours are flexible. If you know of a young adult (ages 14 - 17) who would enjoy serving as a VolunTeen, please tell him or her to come by the Reference Desk at the Library to pick up a VolunTeen application. VolunTeens will take an active role in planning our Young Adult Programs.
Weekly information/orientation sessions are held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. For more details on the Volunteen program, call
827-6950.
UPDATE: VolunTeen News
The Friends of the Library are in the process of purchasing many new items for our Young Adult area in the library. The posters and frames have arrived and have been hung. We also now have a new floor stand where we are posting all of the upcoming teen activities for the month. The teens are really beginning to make this area their own special place and they love these new additions. Please stop by our Teen Zone and see the wonderful teen-friendly changes that are taking place!
SCOUT BADGE PROGRAM The library is proud to announce the formation of a two-hour Scout Badge Program for scouts interested in completing requirements for merit badges. Call Joyce or Carolyn,
